How we work with sustainability
Interal wants to contribute to sustainable development by operating responsibly with regard to our external environment, our employees and all our stakeholders.
We do this by optimising the use of raw materials to reduce waste. We promote equality, diversity and innovation through different experiences, putting the individual at the centre, encouraging suggestions for improvement and offering varied work tasks.
From an economic perspective, we take a long-term approach. We invest in machinery and sustainable technology, choose our suppliers carefully and develop our business together with our customers by offering high-quality aluminium products.
Environmental impact
At Interal, we are well aware of the environmental and climate impact of aluminium as a raw material, but we also know that it is an appropriate and climate-smart choice thanks to its high recyclability.
Recycling aluminium requires only about 5% of the energy used to produce new aluminium, significantly reducing both energy consumption and carbon emissions. Its low weight combined with high strength and durability also make aluminium ideal for sustainable construction.
Recycling and recovery
To minimise waste and maximise resource efficiency, we help our customers design products with a focus on minimising material waste during processing. The chips and offcuts that do occur are carefully sorted by alloy and type - whether it's extrusions, castings or sheet - and then taken away for recycling. This contributes to a circular economy where aluminium lasts a long time and is reused again and again.
Interal & EcoVadis
Sustainability is at the heart of our business. That's why we work with EcoVadis, an international platform that reviews and evaluates companies' efforts in the areas of the environment, labour law, ethics and sustainable procurement. For us, EcoVadis is an important confirmation that we are working sustainably and creating the right conditions for continued development together with our customers, employees and suppliers.
